H.E Ambassador Ole Thonke, the Danish Diplomat to Kenya, paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director LAWASCO, Mr. Wainaina P.K to commission the Danish and Lamu County Government’s jointly sponsored Water and Sanitation Projects. ( Kizingitini Water & Sanitation Project, Kiunga Water & Sanitation Project & Pangani Water & Sanitation Project)

The Danish diplomat, was Lamu County for a two-day visit to inspect and commision Water Projects in Lamu that are funded by Water Fund and aim to provide water and sanitation services.

The CAS water also noted that, we are at 65% coverage and their aim is to have 100% water coverage nationwide, in 5 to 10 years. He also said he was impressed by the collaboration between The County Government of Lamu and The Donors.

The Ambassador promised that he will continue working with The County Government of Lamu to ensure even the most remote areas in Lamu get access to clean tapped water.

The Ambassador and The Governor also commended Managing Director Mr. Wainaina P. K. for his commitment in improving water services in the County.

In attendance was C.A.S Water Sanitation and Irrigation Dr. Andrew Taimur, Water Sector Trust Fund (WSTF) C.E.O Mr. Ismail Shaiye, Lamu County Blue Economy and Water Services CECM Hon. Fahima Araphat, Director Water, Mr. Paul K. Maina among others.
